Nagasaki

Soaring over the face of the earth, birds bear witness to both the insignificant and the incomprehensible events of human history. Nagasaki is fashioned after a red-crowned crane, a bird symbolizing immortality in Japan. The quilt is constructed from vintage Japanese silk kimono remnants, a silk-printed atomic bomb damage.map of Nagasaki, and a vintage “No More Hibakusha” (atomic bomb survivors) nuclear war protest pin in the shape of a crane.
